Shaelin Jornigan | The Hermit Crab and the Thorn
Oil on Canvas | 2018
Shaelin Jornigan is an abstract painter from Allbuquerque, New Mexico whose works explore narrative, family, feminism, and intimacy through energetic and colorful forms.
"The Hermit Crab and the Thorn" describes an eventful day at the beach in Mexico in which the artist found a hermit crab in the shallow water, and also got a huge thorn in her foot. After the thorn was removed, it was immortalized in the artist's sister's diary, attached to the page with tape.
