Donna Ruff’s art explores the effects of time and communication, in thematic and material ways. Working mostly with various papers, some of them repurposed from books and newspapers, she cuts or burns compelling, complex patterns to create a rich relationship between positive and negative space, and bring focus to our ability to take note of culture and events. Her work is in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, the Library of Congress, Smith College Museum, the Morgan Library, J.P. Morgan Chase Collection, and the New Mexico Museum of Art, as well as many private collections.
