Amanda Johnson | Everlasting Love
acrylic on canvas | 2016
A true love story never ends. These two are soulmates in life and death. The book of life they dance upon holds the words to their love story. Though they no longer belong to the living world, their story is not over; it is simply the beginning of a new chapter. The words engraved on the pages of their love story as shown on the piece read as follows:
Left page (Spanish): Sin ti no puedo respirar. Te necesito en mi vida. Tu eres mi alma gemela.
Left page (translation in English): Without you, I cannot breathe. I need you in my life. You are my soulmate.
Right page (Spanish): Mi amor, Eres tan linda como una flor. Te ame desde el momento en que puse mis ojos en ti. Tu eres mi vida.
Right page (translation in English): You are as beautiful as a flower. I loved you from the moment I first laid eyes on you. You are my life.
This piece is a tribute to Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday and tradition in which loved ones remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones that have passed. Having grown up in southern New Mexico, it is a treasured celebration near and dear to my heart.
Makes a perfect gift for any Day of the Dead or folk art admirer, or keep for yourself! A meaningful and lovely piece that reminds us just how precious true love and life are.
This is my original painting "Everlasting Love".
Supplies used are acrylic paint on canvas.
