Richard Overfield | Dalliance, Fantasy, Delusion

Oil on stretched linen canvas | 1989

Initially this painting was a commission, but as the painting progressed, it turned into a collaboration. The client, a close friend, declined to conclude the project, but asked that I finish it. I had no intention of abandoning the project. The original plan was that she choose color & OK the initial drawing accompanied by a stream of consciousness list of her words after which I would take care of the rest. The title of the painting was taken from the first three words of her list. My title is at the bottom of the painting in brackets. [We never stopped believing that we could imagine anything into existence]
