Amanda Johnson | Catrina’s Garden
acrylic on canvas | 2017
This catrina's favorite place to be is in her garden, where her flowers bloom bold and bright. Her garden is her happy place; a peaceful setting where the gentle breeze whispers to her and gently grazes her auburn hair. She finds herself captivated by the blossoming tulips and roses, ever so delicately gracing the grass with lovely shades of blues, pinks, greens and yellows.
This piece is a tribute to Dia de los Muertos or Day of the Dead, a Mexican holiday and tradition in which loved ones remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones that have passed. Having grown up in southern New Mexico, it is a treasured celebration near and dear to my heart.
Makes a unique gift for any Day of the Dead or whimsical art admirer, or keep for yourself! A lovely piece sure to capture your heart just as this garden captures hers.
